De Nederlandse organisatie Kinderzwerfboek heeft 5100 boeken ingezameld voor de kinderen op Bonaire. Op dinsdag 18 augustus brengt WEB Bonaire de boeken naar de verzamelpunten op de lagere scholen op het eiland.
Kinderzwerfboeken zijn gelezen boeken. De boeken krijgen een speciale sticker en gaan zwerven. Kinderen die een boek uit hebben, geven het door aan andere kinderen. Zo komt er een stroom van boeken op gang en kunnen alle kinderen op Bonaire lezen.

Kinderzwerfboek-stations
Kinderen kunnen boeken halen en terugbrengen op vaste verzamelpunten: de kinderzwerfboek-stations. Op Bonaire zijn dit de lagere scholen. Er komen dus kinderzwerfboeken in alle wijken.
Kinderen die eigen boeken hebben die ze niet meer lezen, kunnen hun boeken uit zwerven sturen via de kinderzwerfboek-stations. Daar krijgt elk boek een sticker en dan kan het op reis.
Kinderen kunnen de zwerfboeken ook zelf doorgeven, bijvoorbeeld aan een buurkind, vriendje, zus, of neef. Ze mogen een zwerfboek alleen niet houden, want dan is het geen zwerfboek meer.

Alle kinderen gaan lezen

Kinderzwerfboek is een idee van acteur en tv-producent Leo Dijkgraaf. In 2010 heeft hij het idee cadeau gedaan aan het Nationaal Fonds Kinderhulp in Nederland. Inmiddels zijn er in Nederland ruim 500 kinderzwerfboek-stations.
De centrale gedachte achter Kinderzwerfboek is: alle kinderen gaan lezen. Lezen is cruciaal om talent te ontwikkelen. Het vergroot het taalkundig inzicht van kinderen, draagt bij aan een beter toekomstperspectief en verkleint de kans op armoede.
Boeken stimuleren tot doorleren. Ze inspireren en maken nieuwsgierig. Door uitgelezen boeken uit zwerven te sturen helpen we alle kinderen om te lezen en zich zo beter te ontwikkelen.

Samenwerking
Leo Dijkgraaf woont op Bonaire en draagt het eiland een warm hart toe. Hij raakte in gesprek met WEB en al snel werd besloten de handen ineen te slaan. Als nutsbedrijf staat WEB midden in de samenleving. De ondersteuning van kinderzwerfboeken op Bonaire past in onze missie om bij te dragen aan zelfredzaamheid, ontwikkeling en een hoogwaardige levensstandaard op Bonaire.
Kinderzwerfboek heeft in Nederland 5100 boeken ingezameld, een boek voor elk kind op Bonaire. Dat leverde vier pallets boeken op, met een totaal gewicht van 1200 kilo.
Twee transporteurs hebben de actie ondersteund door het transport gratis te doen. Transportbedrijf Tom van Kleinwee heeft de boeken naar de haven vervoerd. Ceva Logistics Nederland heeft de verscheping verzorgd. WEB heeft de invoerrechten op Bonaire betaald en brengt de boeken naar de kinderzwerfboek-stations.

Aftrap dinsdag 18 augustus
WEB stuurt de eerste 5100 zwerfboeken dinsdag 18 augustus op reis op Bonaire. Tussen 8 en 12 uur ’s ochtends bezorgt een speciaal zwerfboeken-team van WEB de boeken op de lagere scholen: San Luís Bertrán en Watapana in Rincon en Papa Cornes, San Bernardo, Reina Beatrix, Kristu Bon Wardador, De Pelikaan en Aquamarin in Kralendijk.

The Dutch organization Kinderzwerfboek (Children’s wandering book) has collected 5100 books for the children on Bonaire. On Tuesday 18th August WEB will bring the books to the gathering points in the primary schools on the island.

Children’s wandering books are books that have been read. The books get a special sticker and go wandering. Children who finished reading a book pass it on to other children. This way a flow of books is set in motion so all the children on Bonaire can read.

Children’s wandering book stations 

Children can get books and return them at fixed gathering points: the children’s wandering book stations. On Bonaire these are the primary schools. So there will be children’s wandering books in all neighborhoods.

Children who have books of their own that they do not read anymore, can send their books wandering via the children’s wandering book stations. There every book gets a sticker and can it can travel.

Children can also pass on wandering books themselves, eg. to a neighbor child, friend, sister or cousin. They cannot keep a wandering book because then it is not a wandering book anymore.

All children are going to read 

Children’s wandering book is a concept of actor and television producer Leo Dijkgraaf. In 2010 he donated the concept to the Dutch Nationaal Fonds Kinderhulp (National Children’s Relief Fund). Today there are well over 500 children’s wandering book stations in the Netherlands.

The central idea behind Kinderzwerfboek is: all children are going to read. Reading is crucial to develop talent. It enhances children’s linguistic understanding, contributes to a better future perspective and reduces the risk of poverty.

Books stimulate further learning. They inspire and arouse curiosity. By sending read books wandering we help all the children to read and so develop themselves better.

Cooperation 

Leo Dijkgraaf lives on Bonaire and has the island’s interest at heart. He struck up a conversation with WEB and soon it was decided to join forces. As utility company WEB stands midst of society. Supporting the children’s wandering books on Bonaire fits our mission to contribute to self-sufficiency, development and a high standard of living on Bonaire.

The organization Kinderzwerfboek collected 5100 books in The Netherlands, one for each child on Bonaire. The result was 4 pallets of books with a total weight of 1200 kilo.

Two freight companies supported the action by providing free transport. Transport company Tom Kleinwee conveyed the books to the port. Ceva Logistics Nederland took care of the shipping.

WEB paid the import duties on Bonaire and brings the books to the children’s wandering book stations.

Kick-off Tuesday 18th August 

On Tuesday 18th August WEB sends the first 5100 wandering books on tour on Bonaire. Between 8 and 12 o’clock in the morning the special wandering book team of WEB delivers the books at the primary schools: San Luís Bertrán and Watapana in Rincon, and Papa Cornes, San Bernardo, Reina Beatrix, Kristu Bon Wardador, De Pelikaan en Aquamarin in Kralendijk.
